Artist's Comments

"In the midst of which all day
The red sun-light lazily lay.
Now each visitor shall confess
The sad valley's restlessness.
Nothing there is motionless--
Nothing save the airs that brood
Over the magic solitude."

-Edgar Allen Poe, from "The Valley of Unrest."

One of the most beautiful spots in the world. I was so lucky to get there at just the right time to capture this dramatic shot.

This is a lovely shot; the buildings, the boat, the water, the atmospheric qualities, the polarized balance.. it's perfect. Where was this taken?

Perfect? Wow, that's quite a compliment, thank you! It was taken in Chicago.

Talk about perfect timing.
I've only seen this spot in movies.
Great shot. It turned out lovely.

Much thanks. It is truly one of my favorite spots in the world. Some of my best memories come from sitting along this river at night with a few close friends, listening to the city sounds and taking in the cool summer air. Great times...

It's really quite fantastic, didn't think Chicago could be so emotive.

Yes, thanks again. The best part is that this is true to life. I did absolutely no manipulation to this photo, it's straight out of my camera. You can't improve on God, ha!

Again, lovely shot. I'd love to take photos here

I got goosebumps and a nice shiver down my spine from looking at it again- excellent stuff. Where exactly is this in Chicago?

wow, thank you! This is taken from pretty much the exact center of downtown, facing west. This river runs east and west and splits downtown Chicago into two halves. Locating those two identical round parking structures to the right are your best bet for finding this spot if you're ever there.
